River Currents.
This river currents soundscape is a recording of the St. Johns River at Jacksonville University. It was taken early in the morning so you will enjoy birds chirping between the river currents sounds. Rivers maintaining an effective current is key to the health of the river. According to National Geographic, river currents are influenced by the volume or amount of water flowing in the river. The currents can be thought of as “environmental flows” because they work to clean river water (Western Resources). Humans have been known to cause flow modifications with dams, and the consequences can include: altering aquatic habitats, removing populations of fish, changing the water table, and impacting animal biodiversity (Science Learning).
